Madrona School, a Waldorf School located on beautiful Bainbridge Island Washington is hiring for a newly created position of Dean of Faculty (DoF). This role will manage the teaching related business of the school, maintain relations among classroom staff, provide support for faculty and provide support to parents with questions or concerns. This position is both administrative and pedagogical.
The DoF will work closely with the Administrative Director (AD) to form a leadership team responsible for a smooth running of administrative and pedagogical matters at the school. This team will have relationship management, issue resolution, and budget responsibility in their domain. The AD together with the DoF and the President of the Board, form the school’s Executive Council.
This role has accountability for hiring procedure and policy, administration of faculty contracts, classroom staff performance oversight as well as management of personnel policy and professional development plans for classroom staff.
Additionally, the person in this role will establish relationships with community partners. The AD and the DoF will provide a link between the school and the wider community, parents, and prospective parents. He or she will be able to easily and compellingly speak to the value of Waldorf Education.
The successful candidate for this position is enthusiastic about collaborative leadership. He or she has strong relationship management skills, the ability to find common ground and act as a uniting force. We are looking for a strong leader, able to inspire others and be an innovative problem solver. The candidate is skilled at handling sensitive and confidential information and situations.
This role requires clear, compelling communication skills both written and orally. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and a strong relationship with Anthroposophy. Teaching experience in a Waldorf School is required.

About the area: Bainbridge Island, Washington, once a rural island in Puget Sound, has developed gracefully with a downtown business core plus over 1000 acres of parks and public beaches. The island is 28 square miles with a population of 21,000 and has 150 acres in agriculture. Bainbridge Island is one hour away from mountains and a 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Seattle is also home to a Waldorf teacher training program, and eurythmy training.

Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm
General Statement of Duties:
The Development Director will provide coordination and leadership in the following areas:
1) Outreach Strategy
2) Fund-raising
3) Capital funding for campus development
4) Volunteer cultivation
5) Community relations
This work will be done in close consultation with the Board of Directors, the Governance Council, and the Development Committee. The position will assume responsibility for the current fundraising work and will assist in the development of strategies for annual, capital, and endowment campaigns. The Development director will inspire and generate enthusiasm for projects.
The Development Director will lead the Development Committee in efforts to maintain a consistent strategy and to understand its mandate and responsibilities. It is the role of the Development Director to continually “fuel the fires” of the Development committee. The Development Director will provide service to the Development Committee in communications with the faculty and staff, in the removal of obstacles, and in the facilitation of administrative aspects of the committee’s work.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Develop and implement a sustainable strategy to raise 10% or more of the school’s annual revenue from fundraising activities within three years of hire date.
• Establish and cultivate relationships with parents, grandparents, alumni, businesses, and friends.
• Articulate the schools “Mission” in a way that generates excitement and enthusiasm.
• As the Chair of the Development Committee, act as the liaison between the Board, Development subcommittees, the Faculty and the Administration.
• Provide monthly Development Reports to the Board.
• Identify and recruit members for the Board.
• Coordinate foundations outreach and the writing of grant proposals.
• Develop a program for long-term fundraising, capital investment and endowment.
• Cultivate media relationships / develop Public Relations.
• Work with appropriate bodies to implement Long Range Strategic Planning.
Qualifications: MBA, BA, or experience in all areas of financial planning or money management. Must have an in depth understanding and endorsement of the values of Waldorf education, a proven track record in the successful coordination of large campaigns, acquisitions of large gifts from individuals and corporations, and events-based fundraising. Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be a person of enthusiasm and integrity to work collaboratively as well as inspire others.

Shepherd Valley Waldorf School
Shepherd Valley Waldorf School is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill our newly created position of Development Coordinator.
The Development Coordinator is a member of the school’s Administrative Team and reports directly to the Administrator. The Development Coordinator is responsible for orchestrating the School’s fundraising efforts to include oversight and management of the Annual Campaign, special events and Capital Campaign activities as adopted by the Board of Trustees and Administration. The Development Coordinator will work with the Administrator, Board of Trustees and volunteer committees to fulfill fundraising and outreach goals. Qualifications:
• A minimum of 2-3 years professional experience, preferably in fundraising in a school environment.

The Director of Development has the unique opportunity to work with every constituency of the Waldorf School of Garden City. As a 60-year-old institution, there is as much a need to respect and maintain tradition as to explore new technologies and fresh ideas. While a great deal of care and time must be spent in sustaining the office’s high level of output, there is also ample room for creativity and strategy with regard to the Development Office’s primary objectives of fund- and friend-raising.
The Director of Development oversees the following areas:
• Fundraising - Direct Annual Fund Campaign through phone, print and individual solicitations designed to meet financial and participation goals; maintain current Capital Campaign and research, plan and develop next capital campaign; manage major donors and donor prospects through identification, cultivation and stewardship; develop special campaigns around specific funds; cultivate planned giving interest and opportunities.
• Communications – Oversee all print and electronic publications and media relations, including Waldorf News, Annual Report, Monthly Calendar, the Waldorf eUpdate, website and press releases
• Alumni relations – Ensure communication with class representatives, alumni, alumni parent and former faculty constituencies; plan and coordinate alumni events and programs such as reunions, Alumni Day, Alumni Weekend at Glen Brook, Alumni/Varsity Soccer and Basketball games, college care packages, Senior Sendoff and Student Ambassadors
• Special Events – Orchestrate annual and tri-annual fundraising and/or appreciation events such as gala, golf outing, Benefactors Reception, Grandparents Day, campaign kickoffs, etc.
The Director of Development reports to the school Administrator, works closely with other school directors, is advised by the Board Development Committee and manages the staff of the Development Office, toward accomplishing these goals.
Qualifications:
• BA and 2+ years relevant professional experience. Fundraising and/or development experience is preferable but consideration may be give to those with a background in public relations, marketing, and non-profit management. The ideal candidate will be familiar with and committed to the goals of Waldorf education.
• Ability to initiate projects, work independently, multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines with attention to detail and a high level of follow through
• Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Comfort level with working in a small organization, performing a wide variety of functions, from the strategic to the day-to-day
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and data base systems.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Shining Mountain Waldorf School
Employment Opportunity: Development Director
Shining Mountain Waldorf School is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Director of Development, for immediate employment. The Development Director promotes and cultivates a spirit of giving throughout the school community that helps Shining Mountain to achieve its short and long-term goals. This position is responsible for meeting the school’s annual fundraising and capital campaign goals. The Director works with Trustees, parent volunteers, and outside consultants to plan and implement yearly annual fund and major donor campaigns, capital campaigns, planned giving, grants, and corporate sponsorships.

Cedrawood Waldorf School
General Objective: Establish a culture of philanthropy at Cedarwood Waldorf School. Coordinate school fundraising and outreach activities.
• Staff Fundraising Committee. Set up monthly committee meetings. Oversee all school and class fundraising activities. Recruit new parent volunteers to work in fund development. Meet with committee on a regular basis.
• Create an Annual Fund Development Plan and budget of revenue and expenses.
• Conduct a timely, effective annual appeal.
• Research and write grants.

• Support and oversee volunteers working on the Winter Faire and Auction.
• In cooperation with Enrollment Coordinator seek ways to increase constituency and introduce new parents, grandparents and other interested parties to the school.
• Maintain close contact with Parent Council Chairs and attend monthly Parent Council meetings as necessary.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three or more years of fund development experience.
• Great people skills, written and oral communication skills, organizational and team building skills.
Hours: 0.5 FTE non-exempt, flexible schedule, 12 months per year.
Compensation: Salaried starting $15,000-$20,000 DOE; flex credits at 10% of salary; school vacations plus one week during summer.
