Head of Administration

San Francisco Waldorf School
San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking to appoint a Head of Administration, who will serve the multi-campus, Nursery-Grade 12 programs, as its chief administrator. As such, the Board of Trustees, the College of Teachers and various parent bodies look to the Head of Administration for leadership in resource development, human resources, finance, facilities and operational oversight for the SF Waldorf School. The Head must enthusiastically embrace the School's purpose and mission and bring creative leadership and strong direction and a passion for excellence to the development and continued growth of the institution. San Francisco Waldorf School consists of a grade school campus founded in 1979, a high school founded in 1997 and a nursery and parenting program founded in 2003. In September of 2007 the high school moved into a newly purchased facility and is the first Leed certified high school in the San Francisco Bay area. Our programs and facilities are in the midst of planned growth. We have successfully completed Phase I of a $15 million Capital Campaign with planning of Phase II just beginning. The Head of Administration is appointed by the Board of Trustees in consultation with the College of Teachers and reports to the Board. We are interested in candidates who can participate in the implementation and successful completion of all present and future capital campaigns, who are seasoned, successful leaders, experienced in administration, as well as familiar with the dynamics of growth, change, refinement, and stabilization in young, evolving institutions. The optimal candidate will possess most, if not all, of the following: •Demonstrated leadership in a senior administrative/management position with strengths in organization, strategic and long range planning, and program development and enhancement •Proven success in fundraising and marketing, who can effectively tell the -SF Waldorf story- •Record of successful recruitment, hiring, evaluation, mentoring, and retention of talented personnel, with a proven ability to inspire and empower •Budgeting and financial management experience •Familiarity with technology and information science •A collaborative, team-building approach to leadership with the ability to delegate authority and ensure accountability •Superior interpersonal and communication skill Knowledge, awareness and commitment to Waldorf education and philosophy are essential. High School Administrator 2008-09

Shining Mountain Waldorf School
High School Administrator 2008-09 Shining Mountain Waldorf School is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Administrator in the High School for the 2008-09 academic year. This position may be half-time to full-time depending upon areas of experience and expertise. Our basic Administrative position is half-time. In addition, we are looking for someone to take on college counseling, which is another quarter-time. An additional quarter-time teaching or as Pedagogical Dean for the High School could round out a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have extensive Waldorf high school experience in teaching and administration, a BA or higher, and will have completed Waldorf teacher training. Shining Mountain Waldorf School is a fully accredited member school of the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). Founded in 1983, Shining Mountain has grown steadily and now has an enrollment of 325 students in K-12th grade with a full and part-time faculty and staff of 62. The educational program is directed by a College of Teachers, which was founded in 1990. We have two kindergartens, a full elementary school with classes of 28 students, and our High School, which was founded in 1991, now has 90 students. Shining Mountain’s beautiful nine-acre campus is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in sunny Boulder, home of the University of Colorado. Numerous ski resorts and hiking trails are nearby, and the cultural attractions of Denver are only 40 minutes away. Our Festival Hall for Arts and Athletics provides Shining Mountain with regulation basketball and volleyball courts, as well as space for drama, choral, and instrumental performances, seasonal festivals, sporting activities, and school assemblies. The Denver area Anthroposophical Society brings spiritual depth to our community through festival celebrations, workshops and conferences, and visiting lecturers. Biodynamic farming initiatives are active on our campus and in the Boulder Valley area. We are looking for individuals to join us who have training in Waldorf education, strong teaching abilities, collegial cooperation and teamwork, strong communication skills, and a commitment to professional development. Salary & Benefits: Our 2007-2008 base salary is $37,492; this will likely increase by a COLA adjustment for 2008-09. We offer years of experience pay of $850 per year for up to fifteen years of full-time Waldorf teaching experience at a qualified Waldorf School, and up to five years for full-time service in comparable positions at non-Waldorf schools. Medical, dental, and disability insurance, and a 401k retirement plan are included for teachers. Full tuition benefits are included for faculty children. A fund is available to help offset moving expenses. Youth Initiative High School
Youth Initiative High School, a developing Waldorf high school (status pending), located in rural southwestern Wisconsin is seeking a qualified school administrator. The responsibilities of this position, combined with teaching, bookkeeping, or development work may form part of a full time position. A facility for and willingness to participate in group work is key to this Administrative position. The Youth Initiative High School operates on a system of group participation, which includes the Student, Parent, Faculty and Administrative bodies (or their elected representatives), and works towards consensus in all areas. The Administrator at Youth Initiative High School carries the vision of the school amongst all these groups. The administrator also acts as a liaison between the school and other organizations in the wider community and the general public. The Administrator reports to, is directed by and evaluated by the Board and the Core Faculty. The administrator will attend Faculty, Board, Administrative Group and Finance meetings. The Administrator carries responsibility in the following areas: Administrative Processes: Budget Oversight: The Administrator will work with the Finance committee to create an annual budget. S/he will work with the Bookkeeper to manage the budget, to generate reports for Finance & Board and to coordinate tuition collection..S/he will ensure that payroll obligations are fulfilled and IRS filings are completed in a timely manner. Legal/Regulatory Compliance & Communications: The Administrator will ensure that school stays in compliance with government codes & standards by: staying familiar with relevant requirements, and keeping staff aware of these; assuring that written records are up to date. S/he will schedule fire drills and update the safety/emergency plan and will assure that health and MSDS records are kept. Admissions: The Administrator will act as initial contact for prospective students and families, keeping Board and Finance up to date on prospects. S/he will process admissions paperwork and oversee enrollment record-keeping. S/he will work with Finance to facilitate pledge process. S/he will work with Development and help coordinate outreach events as needed. Other duties: Supervise non-teaching staff. Help coordinate and produce yearly handbooks for teachers and students. Facilities: S/he will work with the Facilities chair on scheduling basic maintenance projects as needed. S/he will assure compliance with governmental standards and codes. S/he will be the liaison between the school and the landlord. Characteristics of the qualified candidate: Ideally, this candidate will be an experienced Waldorf educator with an open and creative relationship to Anthroposophy. Additionally, this candidate will be honest, self-motivated and able to relate to and work well with adolescents in a self-governing environment.. S/he will have good written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, knowledge and experience with meeting facilitation and an understanding of basic bookkeeping and financial reports.
