White Mountain Waldorf School
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with woodworking experience who enjoys children. As this subject is new to our school, an interested individual would have the opportunity to develop the woodworking curriculum, following Rudolf Steiner’s indications.
The White Mountain Waldorf School will celebrate its 24th year of operation with the 2008 – 2009 school year. Through an energetic spirit and an abundance of love and enthusiasm our school has grown from one Kindergarten to our present size which serves over 100 children with 20 faculty members. Our strong and dedicated faculty includes subject teachers for French, German, Handwork, Choral Singing, String Instruments and Games. Our office staff consists of a Part-time Administrator, and a fulltime Administrative Assistant. Our school has a strong Early Childhood program for children 2 - 6 years of age, a Parent Child program and a growing Elementary program, creating a warm, supportive community with families from 19 surrounding towns in New Hampshire and Maine.
The Mount Washington Valley, where the school is located, is an area of incredible natural beauty. Bordering on the 700,000 acre White Mountain National Forest, the community is valued by many outdoor enthusiasts who hike, bike, ski, and rock climb. The valley supports a rural, small town lifestyle. There is also easy access to city life with Portland, Maine, 1¼ hours to the east and Boston 2½ hours south.
Our extended Waldorf community consists of an Anthroposophical study group, with members throughout the valley, a bio-dynamic farm and a Community Supported Agriculture group, choral and instrumental groups, and many local opportunities for meditation, yoga, dance, painting and drawing, drama and natural health care.
The White Mountain Waldorf School is at an exciting crossroads as we have recently purchased 70 acres of land where, over the summer of 2008, we will work towards relocating to our permanent home. We are looking for individuals who have a desire to grow with us as we expand into an AWSNA supported grade school.
Education requirements are a Bachelors degree (or equivalent life experience) in addition to Waldorf teacher training. We require an understanding of Waldorf Philosophy and/or a willingness to learn and work using Waldorf methods.
To apply, please send a letter of application, three written references from people familiar with your work, and a short autobiography with your resume. We are particularly interested in your education, Waldorf training and related experiences, your connection to Anthroposophy, and relevant areas of strength and interests. Please email or mail your information to the attention of Holly Fortin, Elementary Faculty Chair. WMWS Po Box 1069, Conway, NH 03818 wmwaldorf@verizon.net
