The Hill School
The Hill School of New Orleans, is beginning its’ Annual Teacher Search early this year. We are looking for the following positions for the 08-09 school year:
• A Grades teacher for a new first/second class – This is a new start up class comprised of 2007/2008 graduates of our Kindergarten as well new students to our school.
As most of you are aware, hurricane Katrina had a tremendous impact on this region and our school. The Hill School relocated, after flooding at our previous location, and re-opened our door only nine weeks following the storm. We currently lease space in a renovated historic warehouse building located in the Irish Channel neighborhood. The Board of Directors and the faculty have been working hard to rebuild enrollment, community, and a strong foundation on which the school can grow and prosper. We are proud to be the only Waldorf school in the Gulf South region and the state of Louisiana.
We are seeking the above additional faculty members who are looking to be part of a pioneering school. Our Enrollment Committee is very focused on increasing enrollment for the entire school. Currently we offer music, Spanish, German and handwork as specialty classes to the grades.
New Orleans is a city rich in culture; food, music and festivals, to name a few. The community is dedicated to the re-building of one of this nation’s most unique places. New Orleans, known for its’ rich culture and diversity, is home to many universities and museums as well as a thriving arts district. Both Audubon and City park have won national awards and are located along the historic street car routes. Last but not least, there is the French Quarter, truly a jewel in the city’s crown. The Hill School was founded in 2000 and is a developing member of AWSNA. We are proud to be the only Waldorf school in the Gulf South region and the state of Louisiana. The Hill School was affected by Hurricane Katrina and though the student body and faculty were reduced we continue to grow in this recovering community. Our school is housed along the Mississippi river in a renovated historic warehouse building located in the Irish Channel neighborhood. We currently offer music, Spanish, German and handwork as specialty classes to the grades. The school is expanding its early childhood program this fall with a Parent-Child group and Nursery program.
We have a committed group of faculty, board members and parents that work together out of the pedagogy and Anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner. Our faculty members are trained, experienced, and dedicated Waldorf teachers.
Our school community is dedicated to providing Waldorf education to one of this nation’s most unique places. New Orleans is known for its’ rich culture and diversity. The city is famous for its festivals (Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest being the biggest), music, and historic street car lines. Class One Main Lesson Teacher Position
September 2008
The Nelson Waldorf School is currently seeking applications for a Class One Teacher. Waldorf-trained and/or Waldorf-experienced teachers, with B.C. Teacher certification, or eligible for B.C. Independent School certification, will be given preference. Duties to include Class Teacher for Class One, attend faculty meetings, parent conferences, and report card writing. Currently our full-time salary starts at $31,406 plus main lesson increment and benefits to include medical coverage, dental and extended health benefits, retirement savings contribution, years of experience consideration and tuition benefit.
The Nelson Waldorf School is an established, full AWSNA member school now in its 25th year. We offer a comprehensive Waldorf curriculum including Eurythmy, Handwork, Woodwork, French, Physical Education, and a Learning Enhancement Program. We anticipate over 180 students in Early Childhood Programs through Grade Nine in 2007/2008. Our faculty is experienced and committed to working out of anthroposophy and the ideals of Waldorf education. We have a supportive and talented parent body, which represents a cross-section of economic and social life. Forty-two percent of our families have moved to Nelson to attend the NWS.

The city of Nelson is picturesque, perched on a mountainside overlooking Kootenay Lake, and full of beautiful older homes and turn of the century stone buildings. The area offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational and wilderness opportunities, as well as a comprehensive recreational facility in the city of Nelson.
