The Rudolf Steiner School seeks a Waldorf-trained First Grade Teacher for teh 2008-2009 year. The ideal candidate is an experienced Waldorf class teacher.
The Rudolf Steiner School is the first Waldorf School in North America, founding Waldorf education in teh United States in teh vibrant city of New York. Growing from a school with twelve students in 1928 to a N - 12 school of nearly three hundred forty in 2007, the school offers a wide variety of experiences for the students and a supportive environment for the teachers and parents.
Located in the heart of the Upper East Side, the school is close to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, teh Guggenheim and other museums on Museum Mile. The school is less than a block from Central Park, which is the playground for the Early Childhood and Lower School.

Chicago Waldorf School
Located in the diverse and vibrant Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, the Chicago Waldorf School is a fully accredited independent school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students. The school serves infants and toddlers and their parents in our Parent/Child program and preschoolers in our Early Childhood program as well as providing the comprehensive 12 year Waldorf curriculum for First through Twelfth Grades. Our campus is within walking distance of Lake Michigan and 1 1/2 blocks from public transportation.
We are currently seeking a First Grade teacher for a full time salaried (exempt) position beginning July 1, 2008. The First Grade teacher will be a member of the Grade School Faculty and will be provided with ample mentoring and professional development support coordinated by our Teacher Development Committee. We expect to have a class of approximately 30 wonderful students in the First Grade, nearly all of whom have been students in our Early Childhood Program.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a minimum of a bachelor's level degree and who have completed a Waldorf Teacher Training Program. We seek colleagues who are eager to work collaboratively in an anthroposophosical environment.

Desert Star Community School
Desert Star Charter School in Cornville,Arizona, is looking for first grade and third grade class teachers for the 2008-2009 school year.Desert Star is a Waldorf Inspired, charter school in its third year. Prior to this,a private Waldorf school existed while Desert Star waited for its charter to be accepted. River Oak Charter School

Madrona School
We are seeking a first grade teacher for 2008/9 to carry this class through the grades. Children entering first grade from Madrona School's kindergarten will have on average three years of Waldorf education prior to first grade. The parents are committed and supportive.
We are a developing school, founded in 1999, presently in our 9th year of operation. Our program for 2008/9 includes Parent-Toddler classes, Preschool, Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fifth and Sixth Grades. Lawrence, Kansas seeks a Waldorf First Grade Assistant for Prairie Moon Waldorf School – an AWSNA developing school. Prairie Moon Waldorf School opened in 2005 and supports a strong, vibrant family community of forty-three students. This assistant teacher will deliver language, math and form drawing lessons to the class of incoming first grade students and assist the 1st/2nd combination class teacher when students from both grade levels join together. This position will extend through the 2008 fall term as the incoming first graders are introduced the letters through fairy tales, the quality of numbers and form drawing. The daily main lessons will be taught to six-eight incoming first grade students. This teacher will assist the class teacher outside of main lesson block for a portion of the day when the two classes combine as one.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for Waldorf education and experience teaching in a Waldorf Grades Program. Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree who have a serious interest in Waldorf education and, if untrained, a willingness to attend a First Grade Intensive Teacher Training over the summer will be considered. Cincinnati Waldorf School
The Cincinnati Waldorf School was founded in 1973 as an early childhood center and is currently an AWSNA developing school. At present, the school offers programs including Music with Babies, Parents & Tots, nursery, kindergarten and first through eighth grades.
A class teacher makes a commitment to guide a group of children and their parents on a journey (Early Childhood: 1-2 years, Grades: 4-8 years). A lead class teacher has the responsibility to appropriately model through his/her activities in and around the school. The teacher must be able to focus on the children, both as a formed group and as individuals. Lead Teachers work with their colleagues to develop programs and curriculum. They work with special subject teachers and supervise assistants for their grade level.
Principal Responsibilities of the First Grade Class Teacher include:
• Be available from 7:45 – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and one to two afternoons per week for faculty and committee meetings.
• Teach or supervise teaching of children
• Study and overview the curriculum
• Communicate with parents on a regular basis
• Be available 1-2 hours per child to assess children for enrollment, first grade, special needs, etc., as agreed upon by the faculty
• Interview parents for enrollment purposes
• Work with a mentor, or other peer support on a regular basis
• Mentor or support other colleagues
• Work with faculty and community in administering and building the Cincinnati Waldorf School
• Participate with colleagues in Parent/Community education
• Be available for open houses, festivals, and other agreed upon community events
• Room preparation and maintenance
Qualifications:
• Waldorf Teacher training or be actively involved in Waldorf Teacher training for at least two years
• Successful teaching experience for at least two years in appropriate field
• Appropriate college degree (minimum Bachelor’s Degree)
• Experience with working collaboratively with colleagues
• Able to understand and work with Rudolf Steiner’s picture of child development
• Teach in a lively and engaging way. Be a model, worthy of imitation in early childhood and model a loving authority in grade school.
• Able to articulate Waldorf Education
• Have appropriate social skills to work with parents and colleagues
• Be aware of other methodologies of education
• Keep credentials updated (college credits, health, and safety courses)
• Assess students and communicate these assessments effectively
• Willing to work with Anthroposophy in all aspects of work at the school.
