Orchard Valley Waldorf School
Orchard Valley Waldorf School is seeking applicants for the position of first grade teacher for the 2008-09 school year. We anticipate a class of 16 - 18 children with 12 -14 transitioning from the schools two kindergarten programs and 2- 4 children joining the class from other schools. The Orchard Valley Waldorf School is the fruit of a unified effort to provide Waldorf Education in Central Vermont. We have been blessed by the hard work and generosity of many individuals within and beyond the school community. We have a permanent home set on 55 acres of beautiful, rolling hills, river valley lands, brooks and apple orchards. The eastern view is awe inspiring and a constant source of wonder as we come together each day. An active Farm Advisory Council is supporting the expansion of farming initiatives and restorative agricultural practices and study as an extension of the school community's vision to be a Waldorf school with a strong agricultural component. The Board of Directors, College, faculty, parent council and administration are committed to sharing in the creative process of growing this school. Weekly faculty meeting consists of sharing classroom experiences, building collegial support, study and artistic work. We are supportive of each other and enjoy conversation about our lives and how we can help each other grow as teachers. Both peer mentoring and outside evaluation processes are in place. The faculty began the formation of a College this year. Our early education programs include two kindergartens, one nursery and a parent-child Morning Garden. We offer handwork, French, movement, music, blocks of eurythmy and Earth crafts as special subject for students in the grades. The first grade has an afternoon teacher two days weekly. The school is located eight miles northeast of Montpelier in Central Vermont. Montpelier, the capitol city of Vermont, and the surrounding towns and communities, offer an eclectic mix of cultural, social and community events. Outdoor recreational activities are abundant. The area offers a wonderful environment to raise a family and simplify one’s life. We seek teachers with Waldorf training or equivalent experience. The ability to work harmoniously through openness and a commitment to building inner strength, through the living practice of anthroposophy are qualities we seek in our growing faculty. The 2007-8 wage and benefits offer a base pay of $28,000 for full time faculty, health insurance and tuition remission for dependent children enrolled at OVS. 2008-09 wage and benefits have not be established. Three Rivers Waldorf School (www.threeriversschool.org), a developing school member of AWSNA, was founded in 1996 by local parents and teachers. Our growing and thriving school (115 students) is located in a beautiful building that was a former public school, just two blocks from the Mississippi River. We are a K-8 elementary school with two mixed-age Kindergartens along with Parent-Infant and Parent-Child classes. The Redmont School in the Waldorf Tradition is accepting position inquiry forms for the following position for the 2008-09 school year: 1st GRADE TEACHER All of the above roles offer the candidates, as teachers, the freedom to nurture the development and unique capacities of each child within the context of the whole class, according to the development of the child as outlined in Waldorf pedagogy and the works of Rudolph Steiner.
