Haleakala Waldorf School
The Haleakala Waldorf School in Maui, Hawaii is searching for a first and a sixth grade class teacher for our 2008-09 school year. Our school is 35 years old and a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS), and National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Haleakala Waldorf School is the first Waldorf school in the nation to receive a triple accreditation from WASC, HAIS, and AWSNA.. HWS is situated on a mature, charming, and historic campus on the slopes of Haleakala crater, serving 250 children from preschool through eighth grade. The school is located in a rural, pastoral environment; the arts are vitally alive on the island, as are many varieties of outdoor activities. Hawaiiana is a strong and unique cultural aspect to our Waldorf curriculum. Classes at HWS are generally no larger then 24 students. Department meetings are bi-weekly rotating with committee meetings during the same time. Faculty meetings are also on a bi-weekly schedule, convening on Thursday afternoon. Teachers are expected to serve on two committees during the school year. We are looking for mature, trained, and experienced colleagues to hold important class teacher positions within our Waldorf school program. These teachers will help to provide the foundation for parents and children at HWS. We expect the teachers to commit to graduating their class through eighth grade. Qualified teachers must have a bachelor’s degree along with having completed Waldorf teacher training. The base pay for the positions being offered is $40,000 with a cap at $60,000 based on $1,000 for each year’s experience in a Waldorf school as well compensation for completion of advanced degrees. We are seeking applications for FIRST AND SEVENTH GRADE CLASS TEACHERS FOR 2008-2009 We are interested in candidates with a Bachelor's degree, Waldorf teacher training and teaching experience. Founded in 1984, Merriconeag Waldorf School serves 250 children in nursery/kindergarten through grade 10. In addition to main lesson subjects, we offer French, German, eurythmy, handwork, woodwork, strings, chorus, and movement education. We opened Maine’s first Waldorf High School in September, 2007 with 9th and 10th grades, with the intention of adding a grade level each year until all four high school grades are in place. The Madrone Trail Public Charter School is a Waldorf-inspired public charter school that opened in September 2007. The school currently has grades K-2, and is adding one grade per year until it becomes a K-8 school of approximately 220 students. We are currently seeking teaching candidates for Grades One, Two and Three. Although our school is young, there is a 30 year tradition of private Waldorf in the area. We are fortunate to have experienced Waldorf teachers who act as advisors, mentors, and evaluators for our school and faculty. The board of directors is committed to the vision of providing the Waldorf curriculum and teaching methods in a public school of choice. Our school is the first charter school to be approved in the Medford School District. As a pioneer in the charter movement in the Rogue Valley, our endeavor is opening up channels of communication and collaboration with the local public schools. The ideal candidate will have Waldorf teaching experience and/or training, and have Oregon Teacher Certification or be willing to participate in a program leading to state teacher certification. Obtaining Highly Qualified status to teach multiple subjects (obtained by passing a State test) is also required. French, Handwork, and Movement/Games are taught by special subject teachers. The salary range is $30,000-$35,000 depending on certification and years of teaching experience. The compensation package includes health insurance and a generous retirement pension plan. Colegio Los Charcos is a Waldorf development school, founded in 1996 on a ranch in the cactus-filled, mountainous countryside on the outskirts of historic San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. San Miguel is a colonial town located in the heart of Mexico which continuously attracts artists throughout the Republic and North America making it a unique bilingual, multicultural community. To respond to the needs of the community we offer a bilingual program in addition to the arts-based Waldorf curriculum. We are a small, but growing school of ninety-five children enrolled in Kindergarten, Pre-first, and elementary classes through the eight grade. Many children, both Mexican and North American, are bilingual in Spanish and English. Although it is not a requirement, our staff is largely bilingual as well. Our faculty consists of seven main lesson teachers and subject teachers of Spanish, English, Handiwork, eurythmy and violin. In addition, we have four support staff members. We also offer special classes in music and woodwork. As in all Waldorf schools, our staff works closely together with committed parent volunteers and an active board of directors in ensuring that the ideals of Rudolf Steiner are carried out.
