SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Center Director, the direct supervision of the Pre-school Teacher, the Teacher’s Aide will be the primary aide to the preschool teacher. She will assist the Pre-school teacher with preparing the Pre-school classroom with curriculum and with employing a Waldorf methodology in accomplishing this goal. She will assist in the care-giving activities for the preschoolers who will range from 24 months to 5years 6 months in age. The number of preschoolers in the center will range from 12-16. In doing so, the aide will assist the Pre-school teacher in teaching and supervising the children in his/her care. The children in the Pre-school class will be predominantly income eligible Native American children but will also include a variety of different ethnic groups, income levels, and cultures as well. The Teacher’s Aide shall assist the Center Director and the preschool teacher with the recruitment and maintenance of Pre-school aged children. The Teacher’s Aide shall assist in delivering culturally appropriate and age appropriate curriculum and for the overall safety and wellbeing of all the children at the center. The Teacher’s Aide shall demonstrate knowledge, familiarity, or affinity, for the Indigenous people of America, particularly of Native American cultures, a proven track record of positive, effective interaction with children of this age group, good moral character, and compassion for children. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Be at least 18 years of age or: * Less than 18 years old provided they have graduated from high school * Be competent to provide the services necessary to assist in meeting the individual needs of children from ages 24 months – 5 years 6 months in care. * Knowledgeable or affinity with California Indian and other American Indigenous people’s culture, languages, religion and history. * Ability to provide for the care and safety of children in their care without physical or verbal abuse, exploitation or prejudice. * Familiarity or willingness to become familiar with Waldorf educational methods for the young child. MINIMUM EDUCATION: * Graduation from high school or: * Currently participating in an occupational program conducted by an accredited high school or college. * Familiarity or willingness to gain familiarity with Waldorf Methods. SALARY: On an hourly basis at $12.00 per hour

Successful Waldorf teaching experience, Waldorf teacher training, a Masters in Education, and/or additional degrees are preferred for lead teaching positions. Students currently enrolled in Waldorf Teacher training are encouraged to apply for part-time, teacher assistant positions. We are a small group of parents in Bermuda wanting to hire a Waldorf trained teacher for our 4 and 5 year olds. Position would commence in September 09.
