RICHMOND WALDORF SCHOOL seeks a kindergarten teacher starting in August 2008. Our three kindergarten classes will consist of children between the ages of 3 1/2 and 5 1/2. We also provide a 3-day program for mostly younger students. In addition to teaching the children for four and a half hours each morning the teacher will be charge of all necessary preparation and administration work. This full-time position will be dedicated totally to 5-day students. The teacher will have the help of one assistant. We seek a teacher with prior early childhood teaching experience. Completion of or current enrollment in Waldorf teacher training is preferred, but not required. Join our growing Waldorf school, now in its twelfth year of operation in the historic, yet surprisingly progressive, city of Richmond, Virginia. Richmond Waldorf School currently enrolls 90 students in two kindergartens and grades classes 1 through 7. In the fall of 2008 we will add a third Kindergarten and complete our expansion into the middle grades, with a full K-8 program by 2008. Prairie Hill Waldorf School will enter its 22nd year and has an enrollment of 197 students. We are a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. Our school building is located in a country setting surrounded with 11 acres of land including gardens, fields, wetlands, and small woods. Our rich and expansive programs include our parent-child classes, pre-school, kindergarten, as well as Grades 1 through 8, two foreign languages, handwork, woodwork, eurythmy, and music programs. The Monterey Bay Charter School,now celebrating its 10th successful year, seeks a qualified Kindergarten teacher in the fall 2008. Our school has two kindergarten classes with a maximum of 20 students in each class. An experienced kindergarten assistant is also provided. The ideal candidate will have Waldorf teaching experience and/or a Waldorf teaching certificate. Additionally, you must hold or be qualified for a California teaching credential. The school is successfully integrating California State Standards with the traditional Waldorf curriculum and is fast becoming a model for other local public schools. Our starting salaries range from $39,000 to $49,500 for a credentialed teacher with higher salaries offered to teachers with teaching experience and Waldorf teaching certificate or courses. An excellent medical, dental,vision and retirement plan are also included. All of our parents receive a thorough orientation to Waldorf education by our director (previously a class teacher for 18 years) before students are enrolled. We are located on the Monterey Peninsula, widely acknowledged to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, with a Mediterranean climate and year-round temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The Peninsula overlooks the splendor of the Monterey Bay, a national marine sanctuary where whale-watching is a favorite activity.
