High School Foreign Language/Elective Instructor

Sacramento Waldorf School
The Sacramento Waldorf School seeks a full time instructor of freshmen and sophomore level Foreign Language, preferably American Sign Language (ASL), but other foreign languages gladly considered, and junior and senior year Electives for our high school. The desired candidate spearheads a new path in our foreign language program, namely one that will offer foreign language for only the first two years, the 9th and 10th grades, and not beyond. The candidate will teach two elective style offerings each school year for the remaining two grades, the 11th and 12th grades, and these could be of almost any justifiable academic subject matter, i.e. Film, Current Events, Modern Media, Politics, Geography, Modern Geographical Culture, etc. This position will complete our Foreign Language Department which has a full time Spanish instructor and a full time German instructor, both of whom teach to all four grade levels. We have a large high school with over 150 students. Our high school facilities include dedicated classrooms for the foreign language program and three new buildings, primarily for the sciences and math. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum with a range of main lessons, skill classes, and extra-curricular activities. We have a committed and knowledgeable faculty, experts in their field and dedicated to supporting the healthy development of our students. Desired qualifications include a BA or an MA. Waldorf high school teacher training is desired but not required. Prior experience of teaching high school is an advantage. We are a thriving Pre K through Grade 12 Waldorf School founded in 1984. We are seeking a High School French teacher for the 08-09 academic year. This is a 60% position. The base salary is $21,040. (plus benefits) with increases for experience. Our High School was founded in 2001 and is well-established. Part time High School French Teacher

High School French, Grades 9 - 12 Available for September 2008 Part time position, which may be combined with High School Math/Physics/Chemistry to complete a full time position. Requirements include an undergraduate degree from recognized university or French humanities undergraduate degree or BEd with French fluency. Experience and/or Waldorf Teacher Training preferred. Experience teacher preferred. The successful applicant will be joining an enthusiastic faculty and energetic community. Vancouver is home to several Anthroposophical study groups, Anthroposophical doctors and therapists and a Christian Community church. The temperate climate provides year-round activities such as skiing, hiking and biking. Vancouver is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, one of the best places to live, and is a well-known multi-cultural centre with art galleries, museums, theatres, restaurants, colleges and universities. Our school, now in its 39th year, offers a full Early Childhood to Grade Twelve program. Our newly completed and anthroposophically designed Early Childhood Centre houses our Early Childhood programs. Our current site development plan includes completing the building of the remaining buildings on one campus, including the Grade School, High School and Performance Hall. We operate on a three-fold governance structure defined by a Strategic Plan, which is in its third year of implementation. We are a full-member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, the Federation of Independent Schools Association in British Columbia, and are fully certified by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. We regularly host Waldorf conferences and speakers, Early Childhood Teacher Training courses offered by the West Coast Institute for Studies in Anthroposophy, and conferences offered by sister Anthroposophical organizations in Vancouver. Remuneration salary range is CDN $35,000-$46,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. Part-time Spanish/Handwork Position

Greenwood School, a small Waldorf-inspired K-8 elementary school located in downtown Mill Valley, Marin County, 20 minutes north of San Francisco, is currently recruiting a part-time teacher for Spanish/ Handwork to start working in our Language Ecology Program in the fall of 2008. Our medium of instruction at Greenwood is American English and all our students study Spanish as 2nd Language from Grades 1 through 8. In addition, Handwork is also taught through the medium of Spanish. We have one class of no more than 24 students in each of our current grades. We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals who love to work with young children. We prefer that the candidate teachers for these positions be able to provide a whole immersion environment for the students through songs, games and the creation of conversational situations. Learning and fun should not be mutually exclusive features of the classroom and we are therefore looking for special teachers who can create a dynamic, lively and healthily structured language learning environment that will leave the children nourished and with a twinkle in the eyes at the end of each lesson! The ideal candidate will also know how to knit, crochet, embroider, sew and be able to provide artistic instruction in these traditional crafts. Experience in doll making, felting and weaving will be an added advantage. Training in the Steiner approach to language learning/ education is preferred and a willingness to engage with the educational work of Rudolf Steiner is an absolute must. Spanish Language Teacher, Grades One-Eight

Bright Water School’s World Languages Department announces a Spanish teaching position for Grades One through Eight. The position involves teaching Spanish to Grades One through Six twice per week and grades seven and eight three times per week. In addition, the Spanish teacher attends weekly faculty meetings and organizes the annual Day of the Dead festival.
