Schooling the Imagination... Inviting the Creative Arts Back Into the Public School Classroom is a one-day conference being hosted by Journey School on March 29, 2008. This conference will address the growing concern of both educators and parents that many children today suffer from a lack of arts in school.
Joseph Chilton Pearce, renowned speaker and author of many books, including best-seller Magical Child, will be the day's keynote speaker. For over thirty years Pearce has written and lectured internationally on the development of intelligence in children. He has been a guest lecturer at most major universities here and overseas. His talk, entitled Cultivating Creative Minds, will be followed by an afternoon presentation by long-time Waldorf educator and mentor Patti Connolly. She will deliver a talk entitled, Nurturing Creative Minds in the Classroom. Throughout the day various childhood development experts and teachers will offer innovative ideas and hands-on strategies during breakout sessions and the day will end with a panel discussion on
