The Deer Park Waldorf Cooperative is a community of parents and teachers who have come together to provide a Waldorf education for our children using an intentionally small, multi-age model. We believe that in our incredibly busy world, children need more time in nature’s outdoor classroom and more time with their families, and families need more time and freedom to raise their children. We strive for economic accessibility through parent involvement in administration while allowing our teachers to instruct us in the pedagogy of Steiner education. We are conscious of the decisions we make in our parenting regarding access to media and popular culture, over-scheduling, clothing, and the nourishment of our children in order to create a refuge for their childhood. We engage in regular, open dialogue to create an organic, healthy community. We hope that our effort to fulfill our vision will empower and enable our children. The cooperative will begin in September of 2007 with grades K-4.
