Mancos Valley Independent School is a young initiative which opened in September, 2004. MVIS currently offers Waldorf education, Grades K-7, and part-time enrollment options for home-schooler students. Located in southwestern Colorado between Mesa Verde National Park and the LaPlata Mountains, it serves the small, peaceful, rural towns of Mancos, Dolores, Cortez, Hesperus and Durango. MVIS is an initiative of the Waldorf Education Association of Southwest Colorado, which also offers summer Waldorf conferences and workshops for educators, parents and other interested adults.
