Cedarwood School arose out of a desire to offer Waldorf education on the West Side of Portland. In the Fall of 1998 a few dedicated families and teachers founded our first Kindergarten with only four students. In just a few short years, Cedarwood School has grown to 108 families, and offers two pre- school programs, two Kindergartens, and First through third grades with plans to add a grade each successive year through the Eighth Grade. Opened in 2001, A Joyful Noise offers Waldorf-based preschool classes in a newly remodeled cottage-like building in downtown Sisters. Parents may select their day to attend preschool and take advantage of a full aftercare program. A Joyful Noise also offers afterschool care for elementary students in the Waldorf spirit. Elementary students are walked over from the local school and receive healthy snacks, homework help, and lots of creative free play. Each summer there is a diverse program for children ages 3-12 years old.

Your child must turn 2 by Aug 15 to attend Fall classes & child care. I am a Waldorf certified teacher with over 20 years child care experience. I am state certified & registered as an in home child care School & day care. I will be offering organic & vegetarian meals. The child/teacher ratio is 4 children to a teacher. I have a highly dedicated & skilled staff ready to shower your little one with love & attention. Our daily rhythm gently guides your child from one activity to the next with smooth transitions. Our day is full of time to play, eat, socialize, daily activities (like baking, water color painting, bees wax modeling, coloring, vegetable soup day/or fruit salad day & that the children help prepare & seasonal crafts). We have a nice back yard to ride trikes, dig in sand, tend to our garden, & blow bubbles! We have a sweet bunny named Angel that the children can pet & feed & we even take her on walks with her little harness! We have a kitten who visits daily with the children as well. I offer a puppet show each day & circle time. My summer program starts June 20th & is over Aug. 31st. Fall classes begin September 6th & ends the last day in May. The school program is from 8:30 - 12:20. After care goes until 5:30 if needed. Children can arrive as early as 8 for an extra fee. Open M-F you choose the days & times you need.
