The Willow Tree is a unique Waldorf influenced Portland based home preschool program, specifically designed to meet the needs of the young child. Our strong emphasis on art and nature allows children to care for our organic garden, animals, and one another in a warm nurturing environment. We have two teachers passionate about early childhood education, who encourage children to explore and build meaning through their experiences. The Willow Tree provides an unwavering stability, rooted in the children's need for rhythm and ritual throughout their lives. In an atmosphere which encourages both active exploration as well as quiet time to reflect, your child might choose to bake with the group, engage in dramatic play with a friend, drape herself in silk and dance around the room, paint, or build with a variety of materials.
The Willow Tree welcomes children of all race, religion, ethnic origin, and family composition.
School hours are from 9am to 1pm.
We are now enrolling for the 2006 summer camp and the 2006-2007 school year.
For more information call Kim at 503-283-0619 or go to http://www.willowtreepreschool.com

Wild Lilac Preschool is a small in-home preschool with two locations in Portland’s vibrant Hawthorne District. We offer a cozy and inviting inside space to support children’s imaginative play and an outside space alive with possibilities for daily adventure. In an environment rooted in respect and compassion, we strive to nourish each child’s spirit, foster his natural sense of wonder, and provide a protective space for him to grow.
At Wild Lilac we honor the rhythm of the natural world in our singing, games, and stories. We notice the shifting seasons in our garden while caring for the plants, harvesting food to eat, and drawing inspiration for art projects.
In all of our activities, we aim to:
-Engage the mind to wonder and question
-Nourish the heart to be compassionate and kind
-Enliven the imagination
-Cultivate a love of learning
At our Daffodil House we accept children who are 2 and 3 years old. At Iris House we accept children who are between 3 and 5 years old. We offer a morning program and a full day program.
Please call 503-236-3240 to speak to The Wild Lilac Preschool Directors Helene and Katie.
