This summer, Sunbridge College will be teaming up with the Side by Side Youth Leadership Program and GlobeNet3 to offer a conference for people ages 17 to 23 around the theme of global citizenship. Together we will explore ways in which we can effect positive change in our global society. In recognizing our interdependence and our responsibilities as global citizens, we can develop practical projects to create a better world.
We are very excited to have Nicanor Perlas as the keynote speaker for this year’s conference. Nicanor, a native of the Philippines, is a winner of the 2003 Right Livelihood Award, and co-founder of GlobeNet3, a global civil society network. Through our conversations and activities around the theme, Globalization and the Promise of Civil Society, we will touch on the crucial questions of human rights, international trade, environmental degradation and war, and connect with one another to make a difference in the world.
Beyond the daily project groups, which will be intimate conversations around the conference theme, each day will also include arts for social change, movement activities, social games or dialogue groups, inner work and sharing, as well as an array of exciting evening activities. So reserve your spot now, and come make a difference with us.
Themes of the week will include:
• The Threat of Elite Globalization
• The Business-Government Alliance
• The Power of International Institutions
• Threefolding and the Hope of Civil Society
• Steps to a Better World
