SOMERSET SCHOOL is a public benefit corporation offering teacher and faculty training, parent consultation, and publications in the fields of curative and therapeutic education, curriculum design, and special education school administration. Sunny Baldwin has pioneered curative education in Waldorf Schools for over 35 years. A team experienced in classroom teaching, therapeutic movement, child assessment, and school administration supports her.

To assist schools, teachers, and parents in preparing each student to function independently, take initiative, be socially responsible, and reach the highest level of his or her ability in school and adult life.

Through publications, teacher training, and consultation we strive to assist schools, teachers, and parents learn innovative ways of sustain ably helping highly individual children succeed in life.

Somerset School was founded in 1974 to serve children in need of special care. Sunny Baldwin, the founder and Program Director, has served hundreds of families, pioneered new approaches to meet the unique and gifted children who struggle in regular classrooms, trained dozens of remedial education teachers, and worked with physicians, therapists, and others to establish affiliate programs and expand the work. Charles, her husband of 22 years, joined the school as Administrator in 1997.

At the end of the school year in 2006, Sunny and Charles retired from daily school management to make time, with collegues, to write and publish materials based on the "Somerset experience." Somerset School now supports publication, teacher training, and parent mentoring. Daily teaching and summer camp activities have shifted to our affiliates.

Somerset School remains a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization. It is supported by commissions, gifts, and grants. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, or national origin when offering services.
